Sound Engineering for Beginners

Now that digital recording technology has come of age it has never been easier for bands and musicians to produce their own high quality audio recordings using home equipment. With a small investment just about anyone can buy all the basic equipment to set up a home studio, however owning all the gear does not a producer make.

That's where I come in! I've designed this website to give you a walkthrough guide to everything you need to know about home recording. We're going to look at everything from choosing the right equipment to get you started right up to advanced recording techniques, with everything spelled out so even the drummer can understand it.

I will also be discussing creating backing tracks and use of MIDI instruments for the benefit of singers and hip hop artists who want to put some music behind their lyrics, as well as looking at how best to present your music to record labels and other industry "suits".

I am a musician, producer, and live engineer of many years experience and I have tried to make this guide as comprehensive as possible, however none of us are perfect. If there are any subjects you think I have missed out on or not discussed in enough detail, please contact me and let me know. This site is being continuously updated and I will be happy to receive your feedback.
